The Wings: A Sculpture of Freedom and Elegance

Unveiling Kirin & Koren Design Studio's Award-Winning Art Piece

The Wings, a sculpture art piece by Kirin & Koren Design Studio, is a testament to the transformative power of design. Inspired by Regina Miracle's signature bra technique, the Miracle Wing, the sculpture takes the form of a pair of flying wings, a metamorphosis of a bra. The wings, made from stainless steel with a perforated letter pattern taken from the brand name Regina Miracle, represent freedom, confidence, and elegance - values that Regina Miracle aims to deliver to their customers through their products.

The Wings was specially designed for Regina Miracle International's listing at the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. The challenge was to create a bra sculpture that could fully represent the company's philosophy during its grand listing ceremony. The result was a unique piece that not only embodied the company's values but also stood out for its innovative design and execution.

The sculpture's realization involved the use of stainless steel with mirror polish, 3D printing, and parametric design. The design process was marked by the challenge of creating perforated stainless steel on a doubly curved surface with extreme curvatures and tiny perforated holes. The smallest perforation was 3mm wide, requiring special care during fabrication. The challenge was to ensure the desired curves of the sculpture could be achieved with the right thickness of stainless steel while maintaining the delicate perforations.

The Wings measures 300mmW x 300mmD x 400mmH. The project began in April 2015 and was unveiled at the Hong Kong Stock Exchange listing ceremony in October 2015. The design team, Leung Siu Lun Kirin and Sin Koren Chi Kei, worked meticulously to bring this vision to life.

The Wings was awarded the Golden A' Fine Arts and Art Installation Design Award in 2016. This prestigious award is granted to marvelous, outstanding, and trendsetting creations that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom.
